Kumbhalgarh Fort, about 80km northwest from Udaipur in the west of the Aravalli Hills and built in the 15th century by Rana Kumbha, is one of the most important forts in Rajasthan and a World Heritage Site.
It is the birthplace of the famous Maharana Pratap, one of the greatest warriors of Mewar. The area of the fort is surrounded by a wall more than 38km long - the second largest in the world just listed after the wall of china. In the Mewar region of Rajasthan only Chittorgarh Fort is considered to be of more importance.
